Updates & Info: The Weekly Update (2)

Has it been as tiring of a week for you as it's been for me? I'm having one of those weeks in which I'm so exhausted that I can hardly keep my eyes open and my brain is all fuzzy. I just typed up my thoughts on Pretties for my personal book journal and am scared to even see what I wrote given that I was in my half-asleep, rambly state.

Do you ever know you're saying things that are all over the place and don't make sense, but you just keep going anyway? Yeah.

But the good news is that I'm never too tired or too fuzzy to read! And really, that's the most important thing ;-)

To Post Full Reviews on Goodreads, or Not to Post Full Reviews on Goodreads?

That really is the question. I’ve been posting condensed versions on Goodreads figuring most people who actually want to read essay-length reviews won’t mind clicking over to my blog and because of the ever elusive SEO. But I’m going to try posting my full-length reviews for a while and see if I notice any difference. How do you do it on your blog?

My Kindle Broke šŸ™

I’m going to be majorly stressed if my meticulously organized book collections aren’t saved in the cloud, but don’t worry, I have a warranty! So my life advice for the week is to always buy the extended warranty because one day you’ll be glad you did.

What to Read Next?!

The good news is, I’m fully out of my I-have-a-million-books-but-nothing-to-read-phase. The bad news is, I’m now fully in my I-have-so-many-books-I-want-to-read-RIGHT-NOW-that-I-can’t-decide-on-one phase. As much I’ve talked about how I’m dying to read Flex, I have a pre-order with one of my favorite characters just calling my name already on my ebook shelf…

Book of the Week:

Menagerie (The Menagerie Series Book 1) by Rachel Vincent – This book isn’t even out yet, but the cover and title immediately drew me in. Blame it on my love of circus. Now I have to have it!

Song of the Week:

“I Won’t Let You Go” by Snow Patrol – I know this song was in Divergent, but I didn’t see the movie, so I only heard it recently and haven’t been able to stop listening to it!

Video of the Week:

100 Movies Dance Scenes Mashup (Mark Ronson-Uptown Funk ft.Bruno Mars) @WhatsTheMashup – Have you guys seen this video yet? There’s no way not to smile while watching it! It’s too perfect, and this song is infectious.

Quote of the Week:

“Reading is the sole means by which we slip involuntarily, often helplessly, into another’s skin, another’s voice, another’s soul.” – You can find this quote and more on my “Reading” Pinterest board! (I’m a quote hoarder.)

I post my full book reviews on GR – I personally am always too lazy to click over to the blog to read it. I am often looking at GR in me phone app, so going over to the blog can take a few seconds and I would rather just scroll through it on one page in the app. If I’m on my computer, I often choose to look at the review on the blog instead though! I’m interested to see what other people say šŸ™‚ I’m so sorry about your kindle! I hope your organization sticks… Have a good next week šŸ™‚

That makes sense, that a lot of people might not click over if they’re on a mobile. I’m still just trying to get the hang of GRs period, let alone how to incorporate it with my blog! I did get my new kindle charged today though. Thankfully, my collections are good and well šŸ™‚ And thanks, same to you!

I post the full reviews on Goodreads. I wasn’t going to, because like you said, I was concerned about the SEO, and all that jazz. BUT then I realized that I always got annoyed when someone didn’t post the review AND I usually didn’t bother going to their blog to read it so… I decided I’d keep posting the full ones.

I am sorry that your Kindle broke šŸ™ I never get the warranty, so I’d have been pretty much screwed! It’s good that you can get it replaced, but it does still suck about your organization. That stuff takes time!

I am super excited for Menagerie too! I cannot wait to read it, it sounds so good, AND I have heard really good things so far! Hope you love it, and have a fabulous week šŸ˜€

It seems a lot of people post full reviews there, so I think I’m making the right decision in trying it. But my kindle stuff is ok! Got the new one charged up. No lost organization šŸ™‚ You have a great week, too, and let’s cross our fingers that we both love Menagerie!

    Thank God for warranties!

I’m too lazy to condense my reviews for GR. I quickly whip something up on GR if I don’t plan on reviewing the book fully, but if I have a review on my blog, I usually just copy and paste.

Right?! It would’ve been a terrible week without that warranty! You’re right though, it is more work making a condensed version. It’s not A LOT of work, but every little bit adds up.
