Update: Life and Books (Apr 2021)

This isn’t going to be a full update with all the books I’ve read and everything. It’s more a quick update to say my head/eye problem has gotten really bad again, I can’t look at my computer or phone without headaches, so my blogging has slowed. For now, until I’m feeling a bit better, I’m posting blog posts I already have finished. That means I’ll run out of book reviews soon, but I have some game reviews and discussion type posts still, though I might spread them out.

I’m getting better at using a screen reader, but some things are still too difficult, and everything takes about 10x as long. I managed to shelve a book on Goodreads the other day, and I felt like I had transcended into another dimension. It was An Experience. (I think I’ve got the hang of it now, but I never would’ve figured it out if I couldn’t have looked at the screen at first.) Also, please remember to add alt text to images on Twitter, other social media, blogs, etc.! Even if I weren’t using a screen reader, you never know who else might be, and it’s really frustrating to not know what everyone is talking about when they’re posting images.

I turned 30 in April, and that feels like a significant number, but I couldn’t even celebrate, offline or online. A whole new decade though! I guess I’m well and truly an adult now? When do my magic powers come in? When will someone show up to tell me I’m actually the prince of another dimension? I’m not getting any younger here 😛

I played a kinetic novel (visual novel without choices) using TTS, called Pale Cachexia. I was given a copy for review and haven’t been able to review it on my blog yet, but I enjoyed it. It’s a kind of haunting and atmospheric story about guilt, grief, love, and loneliness. I’ve been enjoying The Circle S2 on Netflix. Listening to books and podcasts.

Anyway, that’s about it for this update. I hope everyone else is doing well!

Happy birthday! I’m sorry to hear about things getting worse with your headaches/ eyes. I definitely think we should get more benefits as we get older- why can’t we go to some other dimension where things are BETTER lol? So unfair.

    I don’t think I finished S1 of the Circle yet- I need to check…

    Have a good week!

So sorry to hear you’re not well again. Hope you feel better soon.

I’m still waiting for my super powers to kick in!

Happy belated birthday and happy new decade! I hear you about the another dimension thing. I’ve been waiting for the Doctor to scoop me up in his TARDIS for so long LOL (and yep, I mean the Tenth Doctor 😉).

I’m sorry to hear things are worse with you these days. I wish I could say or do something to make you feel better…but hear this: I’m making a serious effort to remember to use ALT text for images! How does it sound? 😉

Thanks! I’m sorry, your Doctor Who references are lost on me, I’ve never seen the show in my life lol. Unless you’re talking about that one, I think I know what one of them looks like…

Ha, I did in fact hear it lol, and I’m glad 🙂

I know you haven’t seen the show (BIG LOSS! LOL), but you’ve probably noticed the amount of David Tennant gifs in my posts and Twitter timeline…yep, he’s the one 😉. Anyhow, the TARDIS is a space-time machine that looks like an old phone box and it’s bigger on the inside…

At least now I’ve watched one thing with David Tenant (Good Omens) even if it wasn’t Doctor Who lol. I haven’t seen the show, but I’ve seen the phone box TARDIS around the internet!
