With the appearance of zombies in Kinsale, Vince already has his hands full, but Abarta is working on another plan that could destroy the world, and it's up to Vince to stop him---again. Vince, Saoirse, Odette, and Vince's old fae friend Rian must venture back into another realm, but things turn out a lot more complicated than they expected.

Review:

*I received an ecopy of this book from the author. This has not influenced my review.*

This one was my favorite in the series so far!

This series is action-packed, plot-driven, and fairly fast-paced, which makes for a great read when you want something gripping that you can get lost in. And I felt like the plot and pacing were better this time in that it wasn’t fight scene after fight scene, like the last one seemed to be, although the fight scenes that were there seemed even more intense and violent. Plus there was a bunch of different stuff going on, so I was never really sure where the story might go next.

I loved the addition of a new character, Rian, an old friend of Vince’s, and the funny-yet-biting banter between them. It even allowed us to learn a bit more about Vince and his past.

I especially enjoyed getting to learn about more types of fae and other creatures this time. I always love getting to see new takes on supernaturals and what sorts of abilities they have. Like the gancanagh, which I had never even heard of but are apparently the faerie version of incubi. There were also vampires, zombies, and necromancers in this book, so we got to learn a bit about those too. We even got to see more of Vince’s powers and learn how they work, what the different glamours do, and what some of the differences between fae and humans are. It seems like the author put a lot of thought into the creatures that inhabit this world.

Overall, this was another quick, gripping, very readable book that I enjoyed!

Me think the lady doth …no that’s for another blog LOL
Kidding aside now I was really surprised to read in your review that it was about Fae etc because the cover make it more like a crime or spy story!
    Great review 😉

I love all three – urban fantasy, post-apoc settings, and fae! Somehow I have missed this series. So glad you reviewed the book. Would of never thought fae. Thanks for the review Kristen! ❤️

It really does sound like the author listened to your review or something because a lot of the things you didn’t like about the previous one were corrected here, like the pacing and more of a story between the major fights. But at the same time it managed to maintain that fast pace. It can be hard to find that balance! I am glad you could like this one most of them all so far 😀 Great review x

Lately I’ve been watching many YouTube videos about writing and happy to see that most authors report their books get better and better. I love to see reviews of series when each book is better. I love things improving and evolving in general 🙂 Also happy to see there are so many good fae series! For when I overcome my allergies 🙂 This could be a good one to try since it has vampires, zombies, and necromancers and I’m happy to announce I’m good with Vamps again! I’m watching the Originals and that got me loving fangers again! 🙂

It makes sense that authors would get better with more writing 🙂 Lol you have quite a few supernatural creature allergies 😛 Glad to hear you like vampires again though!

Woohoo! I’m glad this was such a great read. I was thinking I had the first one in this series but it’s actually Soul Breaker that I have. I do like the sound of all the fae in this series and it does seem to be action-packed and exciting. The first one in this series is only 99 cents right now so…. 😀

Glad you enjoyed this one so much. It’s always when a series seems to get better as it goes along, it’s good there was a better balance between plot and action this time around. I definitely like books that keep you guessing on where it’s going next. I don’t mind predictability in some books but if it’s more actiony it’s better for a book to keep you on your toes so you keep on reading to find out what’s next. How awesome there was a new creature you’ve not heard of! Basically, it sounds like you really enjoyed this.
