Review:
Much like the first book, this was a book of pirates, sirens, action, adventure, and a bit of romance. I’m not sure why you didn’t grip me quite as much as the first one, but it was still good.
This time, Alosa was back on her own ship with her own crew, so we got to know her crew more. The six-year-old daughter of one of the men was just adorable! We also got to see more of Alosa’s compassionate side, what she’s like as a captain, and how much she cares for her crew members.
There was also the continuing romance with Riden, but, to be honest, I felt like there was more heat and chemistry in the first book, maybe because there was more tension between them then.
This one had more sirens though! We got to learn more about them and their abilities, so that was cool.
And, once again, the audio narration by Marisa Calin was well done and enjoyable.
I don’t really have that much to say about this book, but I am liking this series so far. It’s fun, I like reading about pirates, I like the whole half-siren thing, and I look forward to seeing what’s going to happen next!

Fans of Book 1 in Tricia Levenseller's Daughter of the Pirate King series. Anyone who likes YA, pirates, sirens, and a bit of banter-y romance.
I always hear such great things about the first book, but I think this is the first review I’ve read of the sequel. It’s hard to keep the momentum going for some authors, sounds like that might have been the case here.
Yeah, I’m not sure what exactly went wrong. It was still fun though! Just lacking some of that oomph of the first book.
I also liked the first book better. I think I thought there would be more sirens, or more with her mother, maybe?
Good to know it wasn’t just me. I don’t know what I expected? More pirating maybe, or just the characters being more pirate-y lol.
Pirates and sirens- I really need to be reading these. Plus I’m kind of intrigued about the sirens’ powers- I’ve only read a couple of books about sirens but I love the idea.

Sometimes we read some books and in the end we just don’t really have too much to say about them in particular. It seems like this was still a good enough sequel but it was just lacking that extra something that you enjoyed so much in the first book. Yay for more sirens though!
Yeah it’s weird how some books we could talk about forever, and others we don’t have much to say about. But yep, still a fun book, just lacking some of that oomph.
I keep meaning to read this series because it seems to have SO many fun things!
