Cover Characteristics: Book Covers featuring Skulls (2)

I originally did a post about book covers featuring skulls roughly six months ago when it was the official topic of the week, but I kept finding so many great covers with skulls that I wanted to do it again! And something about a skull on a book cover just seems to automatically make it more interesting 😉 So here are some more awesome and gorgeous book covers for you all to enjoy!

Cover Characteristics is a weekly meme hosted at Sugar & Snark. I went rogue this week, so my topic is:

Was there ever a chance I wasn’t going to choose this one as my favorite?! I LOVE the red, white and black, especially since all the colors are so stark and crisp and contrast so well. And it’s just a fantastic cover period with the wolf and the skulls and the blood! Update: It has been brought to my attention that there are two covers for this, so I’m including the human one too since they’re both awesome!

Ah skulls. Perfect for October. 🙂 My absolute favorite is probably Darlchylde, that one is amazing, although Brazen is avery close second (love the trail of blood). Skulls all over too… The Bone Witch would be next, I’ve loved that cover ever since I first saw it. I kinda like the Charmed and Flunked covers too, they’re fun and whimsical.

Right? October is definitely perfect for a skull post! I love that cover for Darkchylde too. Apparently it’s a also a comic by the same author, but now he’s making this book series version, or something like that. But Brazen is still my favorite! And Charmed and Flunked are definitely fun and whimsical and very attention-grabbing!

Ah, it’s amazing how many books you can find with skulls :O But I guess that all involves a bit of thinking to find out, right?
I love the Charmed and Flunked covers – it’s nice how they’re so bright, even though they have skulls, which are usually considered darker, I think! 😀

I’ve kinda just started noticing and collecting book covers since I started doing this meme lol. If I know I have a topic planned, I bookmark any good covers I come across, so I already had ten when I put the post together. I love those covers too! And you’re right, they’re so cheery and bright, and normally skulls are used for dark things!

Right?! It’s the Spanish one, I found it while going through a million different Dracula editions trying to find a good cover for my vampire post lol.

I thought the same thing about The Bone Witch – very elegant. My favorite is also Kelley Armstrongs – I like the simplicity and the contrast. It’s very striking. But they’re all pretty and interesting covers!

Wow! You picked some amazing covers for this one! ? They are all amazing, but that Dracula one really takes the cake. I love how artsy it is.

I usually find skulls on the cover a bit creepy, but they sure make for some great covers as well. Oh I see a Kelley Armstrong book in there ;). I haven’t read that one yet, but I think it might be in one of the short story collections that I own. These novella’s of her that get published with this publisher always have two covers, I think this is the standard one and there’s one with him in human form as the limited edition, with the same colors, but I think the background is black in that one. I once won one of these stories, I think it was Forbidden and the artwork in the book was all white, black and red as well. It was a bit creepy, but did add to atmosphere, I wonder if this one has the artwork as well like that.

Those fairy tale reform covers look so cute and magical. The character on the shutgun arcana cover does look scary with how he’s holding that skull. Nice picks!

Lol but the creepiness is part of the fun! Haha, yes, I think of you any time I come across one of her books because I know you love her writing. Huh, that’s strange that they get two covers, but you made me curious so I just looked it up and the human one is awesome too! I’m going to add it to my post. But I still like the wolf one a little better. It’s more striking somehow. And there’s artwork in one of your books? And it’s all white, black, and red? I think I need to read these, haha.

They are so magical! I really like those a lot too. And I wouldn’t want to run into that guy on the Shotgun Arcana cover, that’s for sure. Thanks!
