Cover Characteristics: Book Covers featuring Mirrors

Sometimes when I start searching for book covers, I think a topic will be easy, but it turns out to be difficult.

Well, this time, I had the opposite problem.

I couldn't find crap when I was actually looking. But then book covers with mirrors just started popping up everywhere. And since I start most of my posts ahead of schedule, I just kept bookmarking webpages until I finally compiled them into a post and ended up with 25 covers to choose from!

Who knew mirrors were such a popular book cover image?! But it turns out they make for pretty covers, so I'm not complaining :-)

Cover Characteristics is a weekly meme hosted at Sugar & Snark. This week’s topic is:

I love the soft, painting-esque style (Is it a photo or painting? I don’t even know.) and the magical feel.

It’s so fairy tale-esque, which is obviously perfect for a Peter Pan retelling.

I like all the covers in this series, but especially this one, because the image and the font and the design all give off such a magical vibe!

I have quite a few of these books on my shelves, Kristen. 😉 It didn’t occur to me that they had the mirror in common. *ha* My favs are Silver-White, The Stillness of the Sky, and Don’t Look Back. Have you read or are you planning to read any of these?

Silver-White is just gorgeous, and I almost didn’t even find it! I wouldn’t mind reading some of these, like The Faerie Queen and Spelled, but I don’t have any at the moment. Which ones do you have?

You did better than I did. 🙂 I struggled with this one… I agree with your picks, The Faerie Queen is definitely my favorite. Everything about it works, the font and the black background- it looks like a face or another world are going to appear at any moment in the mirror. Great cover! I started the first book of that series, maybe I should have continued…

Never Ever is great, I like that we’re seeing someone flying somewhere- like a glimpse into another world. Yes please.

DEsolate looks… well, desolate. Very moody. And Silver White- very cool. Is the wolf going to come through, or is she going to the wolf? I like the snowy woods, and the idea of a mirror as a portal to elsewhere. That one grabbed my attention right away.

I love everything works together on covers like that. And this case, it took something so plain (a mirror) and made it so pretty. I wouldn’t mind reading the series, but I don’t have it on any immediate TBRs.

I do like that glimpse of another world thing you’re talking about.

Haha, that cracked me up about Desolate. I’m actually not big on werewolves, but the cover of that one actually has me interested!
