Book Recs: 10 Lesser-Known M/M Vampire Books

That’s right, it’s me, your friendly neighborhood vampire-loving book blogger, back with another post full of vampire book recommendations! Here’s my previous post, if you’d like to see it. This time, it’s all about the M/M* ones.

*Many of these are more urban fantasy than strictly romance, but they all have m/m romance as part of their story.

I admit it’s been a while since I’ve read some of these, but I really enjoyed all of these when I read them, so hopefully you will too!

*If you’re considering buying any of these books from Amazon US, I’d appreciate it if you use my links! It will help support this blog at no additional cost to you!*

In Darkness Bound by Christine Price

This one is very character-driven and emotion-driven and is about a human with some psychic powers and a vampire. They get captured to be experimented on but make a connection with each other while imprisoned.

Triad Blood (Triad Blood Series) by ‘Nathan Burgoine

A vampire, an incubus, and a wizard walk into a bar… (That is legitimately how the short story prequel for this book starts, if I recall correctly, and if that is not in the blurb, someone has missed an opportunity.) In this series, three lovable characters chose to form a triad with each other for protection (and possibly a future relationship) instead of joining groups of their own species. And in the meantime, they get up to some dangerous supernatural stuff.

Captive (Beautiful Monsters Series) by Jex Lane

Sex, violence, torture, touching moments, action-packed battles, a bit of humor, vampires, and incubi. What more could you possibly want? The slave/master romance that starts off this series may not be for everyone, but if you’re ok with that, then you just might love this kick-ass series.

Life as a Teenage Vampire by Amanda Meuwissen

This YA standalone is sweet and funny with a cute friends-to-lovers romance between two best friends in high school, one of whom gets turned into a vampire.
Amazon // Goodreads // My Review

Beckoning Blood (Bonds of Blood Series) by Daniel de Lorne

This one is a dark and blood-drenched story that follows twin vampires from their life in the middle ages to the present. One is an obsessive psychopath, and the other just wants to find love and happiness without his brother destroying it. The second book veers away from the vampires a bit, but the third brings it back around with more romance and a redemption arc.

Bleeding Heart by Melissa GravesThe Beast Without by Christian BainesThe Immortal Coil by J. ArmandVespers by Irene Preston & Liv RancourtReal Vampires Don't Sparkle by Amy Fecteau

Bleeding Heart (Mi Corazon Sangrante Series) by Melissa Graves

This series has an adorable, sweet, realistic romance between a vampire and a human in a world where vampires have become known to society. It also has lots of INCREDIBLE bite-filled sexy times.

The Beast Without (Arcadia Trust Series) by Christian Baines

This is not really a romance, but it does have sexy biting and a violent (but consensual) sexual relationship between a vampire and a shifter. It also has complicated plots involving the supernatural and a fair amount of darkness.

The Immortal Coil (The Immortal Coil Series) by J. Armand

A young man has his whole life turned upside-down and gets thrust into a world of vampires and supernatural creatures in this action-packed, complex series. The characters are lovable—even the ones who probably shouldn’t be—there’s so much attention to detail, and there’s some adorable friendship and romance as the series goes on.
Amazon // Goodreads // My Review

Vespers (Hours of the Night Series) by Irene Preston & Liv Rancourt

This series brings something new to vampire-human romance—a devoutly Catholic vampire. It adds a unique twist to the emotional and relationship struggles as the two of them work together to fight off demons and other supernatural threats.

Real Vampires Don’t Sparkle (Real Vampires Don’t Sparkle Series) by Amy Fecteau

Not only is this trilogy about a newly turned vampire both funny and bloody, it’s got a great slow-burn romance, lovable characters, and, as the trilogy goes on, quite a bit of intensity, darkness, and emotion. It’s one of those series that only gets better with each book and really sucked me in.

I love a good vampire romance and can’t believe I’ve not heard of any of these. I can do without the slave master thing but some of the others sound great! Thanks for sharing. I’ll have to run to Amazon to look.

    1. Kristen Burns

Totally understandable, I’m generally not a fan of slave/master romance either! But that’s the only one that has that 🙂 I hope you end up enjoying some of the others!

I don’t think I’ve read a vampire book with M/M yet, but then again I don’t read a lot of vampire books in general. The vampire series I read this year did have a gay side character, but he wasn’t a vampire.

I might check out some of these. Beautiful Monsters sounds good, but I think it’s probably too dark for me, I’ve seen that one get recommended quite a bit. I might check out the Immortal Coil eventually as I know how much you enjoy that series and it sounds good.

Well I totally recommend these if you want to start 🙂 Although definitely not Beautiful Monsters for you lol. Even I’ve had a hard time reading some of the stuff in that series. Vespers, Bleeding Heart, or The Immortal Coil are the ones that might be more your kinda books since I don’t think any of those get too dark, although it has been a while since I’ve read them, so I don’t remember all the details.

It’s been awhile since I’ve read a book that’s solely about vampires! I recently finished Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews, which has vampires in it, but they were one of a few creatures in the story. I think I prefer shapeshifters to vampires, but that’s a personal preference! Being able to shift into a wolf sounds more fun that drinking blood from people.

haha every time EVERY TIME I see Captive on your blog I want to go read it! I think I should try it gain since you loved it so much 🙂 Thanks to my Dory Brain I cannot remember why it was dnf so it will be like reading it for the first time 🙂

I think you might be thinking of Captive Prince? I don’t recall you ever trying this one, but maybe I’m wrong. They do have similar titles and are both M/M and start with a slave thing. No vampires in the other one though lol.

Thanks for sharing. I haven’t read any of these, but I do like a good vampire story and you know I love m/m books, even if that’s not the main focus. I still really want to check out the The Immortal Coil Series and the Real Vampires Don’t Sparkle series.

A couple of these I own, thanks to you. And a few are on “your” shelf. 😉 There are a few more that are going there right now. AND you’ve rekindled my curiosity about the ones I own so I’m adding them to the queue to be read SOON. Thanks for sharing this list, Kristen. You know I love me some vampires, too. 😉

I love how you are always promoting lesser known books which is a good thing because there are some amazing ones out there as well! I love vampire books but really don’t read them enough DD: Which is basically just a shame on me. I think next year I am going to try and make an effort to read more of them. I also love how all of these vampire books have a face/body on the cover. That’s just how it goes for vampire books it seems 😀
