Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree This Year

It's almost Christmas!

Which means Santa is coming!

Which means bookworms all around the world are putting the finishing touches on the list of books they want to get because, really, do we even include anything else on our lists?

My book wishlist is entirely way too long, but I have somehow managed to rein ̶d̶e̶e̶r̶ it in and choose the ten I'd most love to get in paperback. You better be paying attention, Santa! (Just kidding, I totally wasn't threatening you. Please don't put me on the naughty list.)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted at The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is:

Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree This Year

Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion | books, reading, book covers
The Princess Bride by William Goldman | books, reading, book covers
Prince Lestat by Anne Rice | books, reading, book covers
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern | books, reading, book covers
Deadly Curiosities by Gail Z. Martin | books, reading, book covers

10. Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion

I’ve yet to find a legitimate zombie book I’ve liked (the one I did find turned out to be about angels and demons), but a zombie romance? I could get into that.

9. The Princess Bride by William Goldman

It’s one of my favorite books, so I feel like I should probably own it, right?

8. Prince Lestat by Anne Rice

I cannot have an incomplete series. 12 out of 13 books is unacceptable! Though I am NOT happy that this cover is like seven times larger than all the others -_-

7. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

No, I still haven’t read this despite having talked about how much I want to read it for months. Don’t judge me.

6. Deadly Curiosities by Gail Z. Martin

Sometimes I read a blurb and just know I’m going to love a book. And usually (not always, but usually) when I get that feeling, I’m right. This is one of those books giving me that feeling.

Six of Hearts by L.H. Cosway | books, reading, book covers
Menagerie by Rachel Vincent | books, reading, book covers
Amour Amour by Krista Ritchie | books, reading, book covers
Reap the Shadows by Annette Marie | books, reading, book covers
Trailer Park Fae by Lilith Saintcrow | books, reading, book covers

5. Six of Hearts by L.H. Cosway

This one just sounds really good and I *think* it’s a standalone, so I wouldn’t have to worry about collecting a whole series.

4. Menagerie by Rachel Vincent

Because circus.

3. Amour Amour by Krista Ritchie

I need more circus books! GIVE ME ALL THE CIRCUS BOOKS, SANTA!

2. Reap the Shadows by Annette Marie

I’ve already got Books 1-3 in paperback, so I just need this one and the last one when it comes out and then viola! Complete series!

1. Trailer Park Fae by Lilith Saintcrow

Not only did I really like this book, I’m obsessed with this cover (which you already know if you read my post from yesterday), and I NEED to have this on my bookshelf. Or framed on my wall. Is it socially acceptable to frame books?

Amour Amour is on my definitely-need-to-read-in-2016 list lol. I can never resist a black, white, and red cover, so I love The Night Circus cover too and am looking forward to reading it since I just found the ebook at my library 🙂

Ooooooooooooooh “The Princess Bride” YES! I remember getting this book for Christmas when I was 13 years old (Only 16 years ago). That same Christmas I got the “White Fantasy Musk” body spray, which is amazing still for sale at local drug stores, and everytime I smell that smell I think of “The Princess Bride”. Lots of happy memories!

I hope you see some of these from Santa this holiday season! Joyous Yule!

Yay, a fellow Princess Bride fan! I don’t know why you’re story is cracking me up so much, haha. Our brains make the strangest connections sometimes. I didn’t read The Princess Bride until I was 21 or 22, which wasn’t that long ago, but I feel like it’s time for a re-read soon!

      Thanks, happy holidays 🙂

I’ve really been wanting Warm Bodies, too! It’s on my Amazon wishlist. I read The Night Circus earlier this year on audiobook and I loved it! I wouldn’t mind having a physical copy, though, because it’s so gorgeous. Happy holidays!

    1. Kristen Burns

The Night Circus does have such a pretty cover. I finally got a library card and found the ebook, so I’ll finally get to read it this year! And maybe we’ll both finally get to read Warm Bodies lol. Happy holidays to you, too!

You’ve got a great list ! Very curious about Menagerie, still have to read that one.. heard great things about it though from friends 🙂
And Warm Bodies.. curious as well !! Do you know the Gone with the Respiration series ? Is supposedly also Zombie Romance.
Hope you get some great books for Christmas !!!

    1. Kristen Burns

I hadn’t heard of that zombie series, but I will definitely look it up! Thanks for letting me know 🙂 I’ve heard both good and bad things about Menagerie, but I still want to read it and see for myself.

      Thanks, same to you!

    1. Kristen Burns

I’ve seen it around but don’t think I’ve ever really looked at it. I’ll definitely go check it out since I’m determined to find some zombie books I like lol. Thanks for the rec 🙂

    1. Kristen Burns

Seriously, I think it’s, like, the most widely loved movie ever lol. Don’t worry, I didn’t read the book until a few years ago, so you’re not that far behind 😛

  4. Barb(boxermommyreads)

You have got to read Menagerie. One of my top 5 books of 2015. It is really wonderful. I have The Night Circus and never read it. Hope Santa brings you all your wishes and that you have a great holiday.

    1. Kristen Burns

I really want to read it! I’m just trying to find somewhere I can borrow it or waiting to see if Santa brings it 🙂 I’m also very much looking forward to The Night Circus. You have a great holiday too!

  5. Lola

Great list! I don’t read a lot of zombie books as zombies creep me out, but a zombie romance sounds like I might be able to enjoy that. The Night Circus sounds good, and as you like circus books I can see why it made the list. I actually own a copy of Menagerie, but haven’t read it yet. I have read most of the author her other books, but for some reason I am hesistant to start this one. And I totally understand why you want the cover for Trailer Park Fea in real life, it’s a great cover. I hope you get some of these books for christmas! I know I will get at least two books for christmas, if they arrive in time, lol.

    1. Kristen Burns

I’ve never cared for zombie movies (I think I’ve literally seen one), but I’m trying to give zombie books a chance. I feel like I could like them, but I just keep picking out crappy books.

Lol yes, my love of circus is taking over my TBR. I’ve heard both good and bad things about Menagerie though, so I guess we’ll both find out when we finally read it.

I will get that Trailer Park Fae cover one day! Even if I have to buy it for myself 😛 Thanks, and enjoy the books you’re getting!

  6. Greg

The Princess Bride! Can you believe I’ve never read it? That’s another one I need to read in 2016. Love the movie of course…

Deadly Curiosities caught my eye a while back at the bookstore, I liked the idea of an antique shop specializing in magic and artifacts. I never got it though. I should read that one too!

Hope some of these show up under the tree. 🙂

    1. Kristen Burns

I feel like a lot of people haven’t actually read the book. I only read it a few years ago. I thought it was hilarious with its absurd humor, but I might go for a re-read this year since I read it during a time when I actually wasn’t reading that much, and I want to see if I still feel the same. But yes, the movie is always fantastic!

Whoever reads Deadly Curiosities first will have to let the other know how it is lol. I’m actually contemplating buying the ebook today as it’s on sale for $0.99…

Thank you! Same to you 🙂

  7. Sara @ Amorous Reads

OMG Warm Bodies… I picked this one up a couple years ago because I saw the movie trailer and had to know more. It is quirky, hilarious, and so great. All of this coming from someone who loves romance and really doesn’t get the zombie thing (don’t hate me, world, they’re just not my thing!) I hope it’s one that you will like! 😀

    1. Kristen Burns

Then I’ll probably love it too since I also like romance and don’t get the zombie obsession! I’m just waiting to see if I can borrow it or get it on sale, but I’m excited to try it because the premise has always intrigued me too 🙂

  8. Vlora

It’s definitely socially acceptable to frame book covers in my world. Also, you had me at reindeer it in haha I’m a sucker for bad (great) puns. I’ve heard good things about The Night Circus! I’ll have to check it out on Goodreads.

    1. Kristen Burns

You’re the only person who liked my pun! Lol. And seriously, book covers are like little works of art but even better because they have stories in them! Who cares what other people think, it’s acceptable in my world too 😛

  9. Shannon @ It Starts At Midnight

Warm Bodies is SO fun, I really liked it. It’s quirky and enjoyable, and I was definitely a fan. And you reminded me that I really want to read Menagerie! And YES, you need to own your favorite book. If you are like me, you need to own it like, 20 times 😀 OH and yes, if it ISN’T acceptable to frame books, we should MAKE it acceptable! I enjoy this idea! I hope that Santa brought you ALL the books!

    1. Kristen Burns

You are making me so excited to read Warm Bodies! But gah, I think I was only able to find the audio book to borrow, and I don’t do audiobooks, so I’m still trying to find it. I don’t think there are 20 editions of The Princess Bride though? So that may be a problem lol. And I’m down for making framing books acceptable! The bookworms of the world have already made book photography a thing, so this is totally doable 😛
