I have some good news! I had a fantastic creative/bookish week! I read/received some books about uncommon supernatural creature MCs, ordered some books with gift card money while they were on sale and I had free shipping, and…
I actually wrote something! Like, 3500 words of something! It’s about Jacovine because I have #Jacovine4Lyf on the brain. (If you missed the post or have forgotten, I’m talking about my sims.) And in case you were about to ask, no, I am not going to post it. It’s awful. Also, half of it is just vampire sex. The other half is based on half-formed, inconsistent ideas that I’m not even 100% sure about. And then it just kind of trails off. But at least I wrote! (Of course now my arms are hurting and I might not get around to everyone’s Sunday Posts this week.)
I also wrote a poem! Something else I haven’t done in a long time. I’ve only written one poem in like two years. Well, now two poems. It’s about a misunderstood merman. (I’ve also had mermen on the brain.)
Anyway, I probably won’t write again for like another year now since that seems to be my pattern.
Other than that, I watched a few more movies this past week while I still had a free Amazon Prime trial. Nerve was not exactly what I’d call believable, but it was fun in a mindless kinda way, and I liked the visuals. Age of Adaline was alright, but I didn’t think it was anything particularly special. I also watched American Beauty, which I’ve seen before but didn’t really remember. It’s really a strange movie.

Books I Finished:
One of my goals for like a year and half has been to read more books about uncommon supernatural creates, and I’m finally managing to do that! First mummies (Graveyard Shift, kind of Seti’s Heart), then orcs (The Glamour Thieves)! Graveyard Shift was a great, gritty UF, and I loved the mummy aspect. Seti’s Heart wasn’t really about a mummy since he was just reanimated to the same human sorcerer he was before, but it was a fun, albeit not super memorable, book. The Storm Lords was enjoyable and sweet. Annnnnd to top off my great bookish week, I finally found a book that impressed me! The Glamour Thieves was fantastic! Gritty and raunchy, so maybe not for those with delicate sensibilities, but really strong characters and writing!

I love supernatural beings. Looks like you have some good ones to read. We had hot steamy weather with lots of rain so I spent some time watching movies and reading. Now I’m behind on reviews. LOL
At least you got some reading and movie watching done! You’ll catch up on the reviews eventually I’m sure.
Yay for writing even if no one else will be reading it! That’s the best kind of writing as at least you get to stretch your writing muscles and that is always fun. Although boo for arm pain, that sucks. I watched Nerve a little while ago and I totally agree, it was a fun film but I was a bit like ‘really?’ through parts of it. I actually really enjoyed Age of Adaline, though, I’ve been meaning to rewatch for a while so we’ll see what I think the second time around.
I did see you mention you’d read books about unusual supernatural creatures to that’s always awesome as it meets your goals and seems like enjoyed your reading. I wish I had recs for you the most I’ve got is a book about zombies, I read the first in the White Trash Zombie series and you definitely don’t get too many books from a zombie perspective do you?
Exactly, I just needed to stretch my writing muscle. I never planned on these stories about my Sims to be anything more than practice anyway, but maybe I’ll share some eventually if I keep writing about them. But it’s difficult with my arms being so bad.
I felt the same way about nerve LOL. But I guess Age of Adaline was pretty much almost like every paranormal romance within an immortal that I’ve read, just with the little father-son twist, so it didn’t seem like anything special to me.
I can actually think of two books I’ve read from a zombie perspective, and at least one with a zombie love interest lol. But you’re right, there really aren’t a lot with zombie main characters. I’ve been wanting to read White Trash Zombie, but my library doesn’t have the e-book.

And seems like you read a lot of books this week and they all sound pretty good. That’s neat you read about mummies and orc’s as reading more paranormal creatures was your goal for this year. I don’t think I’ve seen many books with orc’s in it and if they are, they usually are the bad guys. The glamour thieves does sound interesting and I am glad you finally found a book that really impressed you :). I read 3 books this week, so i also did pretty good.

I did manage to read a lot this week, but that’s only because most of these books were short. And I thought it would only be three books, but then I read The Glamour Thieves all in one day because I didn’t want to stop. But three in one week is definitely a good reading week too! I’ve never even thought to look for a book about Orcs because I’ve only ever heard of them in high fantasy. So that was exciting for me!
Congrats on writing 🙂 hope you can keep your creativity and drive to write some more. Also, it’s awesome how consistent you are with your Sims – I’ve never known anyone who didn’t just drop it after a week or a month.

Maybe your friends are not being honest with you about how much they play, haha. I’ve been playing The Sims since I was like 10 years old, although there were some times when years would go by without playing. But any simmer can tell you that it’s the kind of game people tend to either play for 10 hours a day for a whole week straight, or they don’t play at all for months at a time. I’ve gotten better at squeezing it in here and there though. Although not this week because arms.
I love that one of your goals is to read more about uncommon supernatural creatures! I should definitely get to that myself, so I’ll be checking out some of those books you mentioned 🙂

I watched American Beauty when it was first out. I love Kevin Spacey but it’s a terrible film! I’ve been on a week long binge rewatching Game of Thrones so I’ve got a lot of catching up to do!
