Updates & Info: The Weekly Update (11)

Happy late Thanksgiving/unofficial start of the holiday season to everyone!

Did everyone [who celebrates] have a good Thanksgiving? Did everyone survive Black Friday without being trampled? Did anyone actually go out at midnight on Thanksgiving? (Don't even get me started about that. Pretty soon Black Friday will be starting in August.)

I actually did not even leave the house on Friday. No thank you, mobs. I'm surprisingly amazing at weaving through crowds like a ninja, but I prefer not to use that ability unless I have to, and that chaos is so not worth it.

But enough dwelling on that, I have exciting (well, to me) bookish things to share!

I Posted a Short Story!

It takes 10-15 minutes to read, and, if you do want to read it, you can find it here. I’m secretive about most of what I write, so this is your first chance to judge me as a writer, and judging writers is every book reviewer’s favorite pasttime, right? πŸ˜‰ (Ok please don’t judge me too much based on one piece of writing! Why is this so terrifying?!)

Bookish News:

I reached my reading goal of 150 books! More than I’ve read in one year in a long time… or maybe ever. It makes me feel like I accomplished something πŸ™‚

I also may have caved and bought this ebook while it was on sale for $1.99 because I have been staring longingly at it for months now, and I’m sharing it because I think everyone should bask in the glow of that GLORIOUS TITLE AND COVER.

Trailer Park Fae by Lilith Saintcrow | books, reading, book covers, cover love

Book Haul:

Getting physical books is a rare occasion for me, so I wanted to share ’em.

The Sea Witch by S.J. Valfroy, Drown by Esther Dalseno, Yield the Night by Annette Marie

Books I Finished:

House of Royals by Keary Taylor | books, reading, book covers
Tainted by Alexandra Moody | books, reading, book covers
Talented by Alexandra Moody | books, reading, book covers
Fractured by Alexandra Moody | books, reading, book covers

I really liked House of Royals and am dying for the next book after that ending! And I got hooked on The ARC Series, clearly, except now I have to wait until next year for the final book -_-

Song of the Week:

“You Are My Planet” by Quiet Arrows – Believe it or not, I am STILL listening to Halsey, but I figured you all wouldn’t appreciate one of her songs for the third week in a row. Instead, I’ve chosen a pretty song I’ve loved for a few years but never gets old.

We don’t celebrate thanksgiving here, but I did hear from soem US peoepl I know and how they celebrated. The whole black friday thing seems to pick up here even though we don’t celebrate thanksgiving, it’s a bit weird. I got multiple e-mails from stores I sometimes shop about black friday deals and also received one about cyber monday already. I don’t like to brace the crowd either, so I can understand why you stayed home on black friday, I saw a small movie of people fighting over products in a store and it just looked crazy.

That’s neat you wrote a short story, I might check it out later if I can make time. And yay for reaching your reading goal. I reached most of my reading goals I set for myself this year. The cover for Trailer Park Fea looks great indeed! I hope you’ll have a great week!

Ugh, when I see/hear about people doing things like fighting over a product in a store, it just makes me shake me head and wonder what is going through their heads. I mean, there are people who actually get injured. Is that really worth one little sale?

It’s nice to hear other people are reaching their reading goals too now that the year is ending πŸ™‚ You have a great week too!

“like a ninja” LOL. I like being out in crowds but I don’t do Black Friday. I stayed home Friday and it was glorious. πŸ™‚

A short story? Cool. I’ll definitely check it out. And yeah, it’s one thing to write and another to share it. I like feedback on writing but don’t actually want anyone to read it ha ha.

I like your new books, some nice book cover there. πŸ™‚ Have a great weekend.

If you saw my crowd-weaving skills, you’d agree that ninja is an apt analogy πŸ˜›

Right? I’m not sure if I’m more scared that no one will read it or that someone actually will, haha. It’s weird because I’m not bad with criticism in most things, but I guess writing is so much more personal than, say, being yelled at for not pointing my toes lol.

You have a great weekend, too!
