Updates & Info: The Weekly Update (10)

I know everyone keeps saying things like this, but I can't believe November is almost over! It feels like December has snuck up on me before I could get done any of the things I needed to before the coming month.

*Sigh*

I did have a pretty good bookish week though! I tried something new, I read some good books, I spent a few hours at the bookstore, and I delivered on the sci-fi reviews I promised.

I even *considered* posting a 2500 word short story I wrote in August but then chickened out. Maybe next week? You'd think it'd be easy to share some short, unedited thing that you pantsed your way through as opposed to something you planned out and poured your heart into, but nope, still scary.

Anyway, on with the updates!

I Read My First Graphic Novel!

I finally started the Saga series after wanting to read it for a while. I will review it… maybe soon? But it’s throwing me off because I can’t figure out how to count it toward my yearly book goal -_-

Migrated Playlists

I removed my playlist posts and instead posted links under the “playlists” menu tab and in individual book reviews.

Fairy Tales

I’ve recently decided I want to read the original fairy tales that so many retellings are based on, so, for now, I’ve started reading some of the short ones, like the Brothers Grimm ones. This website seems to be a good one for anyone else interested.

Books I Finished:

Wings of Darkness by Sherri A. Wingler | books, reading, book covers
Wings of Shadow by Sherri A. Wingler | books, reading, book covers
Saga Vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan | graphic novels, books, reading, book covers
Sparked by Sheena Snow | books, reading, book covers
Drown: A Twisted Take on the Classic Fairy Tale by Esther Dalseno | books, reading, book covers

I’m really enjoying the Immortal Sorrows series. I don’t think I’d ever read about reapers before, or any personification of death for that matter. (The second book has made me all sorts of confused about my feelings, guys. Is it normal for the Grim Reaper to be your favorite character and to actually feel bad for Satan?) Saga was odd but interesting, and I look forward to continuing that as well. And Drown was beautiful in a fairy tale-esque way (it’s a Little Mermaid retelling).

Song of the Week:

“Colors” by Halsey – I know I just chose a Halsey song last week, but I’ve been listening to her all week and have discovered some more awesome songs, and this is one of them.

It’s just that graphic novels have so few words, so even the volumes that are 100-200 pages make me feel like I’m reading so little! But I counted it anyway lol.
