Book Review: Under a Blood-Red Moon (Duncan Andrews Thrillers Book 5) by Stephen Osborne

Duncan is trying to navigate this new chapter in his relationship with Robbie when he discovers a violent pack of werewolves in his town, led by a witch, and he knows he can't sit around and do nothing even though this will be his most dangerous case yet. But Duncan has a got a little army of his own to help this time because his friends, old and new, aren't going to let him walk into this fight alone or let more innocent people be killed---even if it means walking into a battle they might not survive.

Review:

*I received a free ecopy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.*

This was another enjoyable book in the series about Duncan and his crew, and I enjoyed all the same things I enjoyed about the other books—the likeable characters, the solid plots, the action-filled fight scenes, the snarky humor, the fun supernaturalness, etc.

I also especially liked this time that the romance aspect was no longer repetitive (an issue I mentioned in my review of the previous book). There was a new relationship issue for Duncan to deal with this time! He seemed to handle it rather quickly and easily, but at least it was different. And to be fair, it wasn’t the focus of the book.

I also especially liked that the ending of this one had an even bigger, more dramatic fight scene than the other books. And the way even more characters joined Duncan’s team and came together was kind of touching and nice. Plus good ol’ Officer Carson is always entertaining (even though, in defense of Duncan, it’s not actually his fault that the supernatural stuff happens). I also got a bit more emotional this time, though it was for a character I hadn’t expected to really be invested in.

Over all this was yet another book in the series that had me rooting for Duncan and his friends, and I really enjoyed the new relationship aspect!

I like that title, and the idea of a werewolf pack led by a witch. There’s something about a tight crew who have to fight against long odds, and the big fight scene sounds pretty neat. Having been to Indy it’s fun to imagine a werewolf pack going berserk downtown… 🙂

It is fun reading about a crew like that, and I really liked the big fight scene. Oh that would be fun to imagine a book like this in a place you’re familiar with!

I do like my big show down kind of fights – but they have to be done right – they have to have a good reason for happening, and they can’t be too over the top… I am glad that this one had all that you liked in the previous books, but also managed to bring on a new aspect which you hadn’t enjoyed so previously when they corrected the romance by bringing in something new. Yay!

I agree, they do have to be in the book for a reason, but this one seemed like it was done right! And thanks, I enjoyed the new relationship aspect too 🙂
